Distal Elongation

Overview

The Distal Elongation tool allows you to lengthen or shorten the model from a slice set on the distal end. An additional slice can be added so the length can be adjusted between those slices.

Add Slice

Add a slice on the model. The tool is active when the plus sign is blue. A maximum of two slices can be placed on the model. The additional slice can be removed by clicking on the garbage can icon.

Reset

Reset, undoing what was done while the tool was open, or Reset to the Fit Suggestions.

Tool Body

Slice Position in Relation to

Change the location of a slice. Each slice can be in relation to the Distal Tibia Landmark (DT), Mid-Patellar Tendon Landmark (MPT), Top of the model, or Bottom of the model. The distance can be calculated in mm or inches.

Slice (0 or 1)

Type in the box to customize the slice name. Type a number to adjust the distance from the related position. The slices can also be moved by activating them, a white outline will appear around the tool, and left clicking on another location on the limb.

Shorten/Lengthen

Move the slice bar to shorten or lengthen distally, or between slices, in mm. A negative change will shorten and a positive change will lengthen.

How to Use

  1. Decide where elongation should start. It will automatically be at the DT landmark, but can be moved by moving the slice. If elongating between slices, click the ‘Add Slice’ button, and left-click on the limb.
  1. Use the Shorten/Lengthen slider bar to adjust the amount of elongation.
