Posterior Shelf
Overview
Posterior Shelf applies a posterior shelf shape to the socket, initially aligned to the Mid-Patellar Tendon (MPT). Use control points and shelf controls to adjust the shelf shape, depth, and contour to match the patientβs anatomy and design preference.

How to Use
- Open the Posterior Shelf tool to apply a generic shelf shape aligned to the MPT.
- (Optional) Confirm alignment to the MPT:
- In Toggle Models, make the model opaque.
- In Anatomical Landmarks, hover over the MPT to highlight the landmark on the model.
- Click and drag the control points to shape the shelf as needed.
- Use Shelf Controls to refine the shelf:
- Position from Centerline: adjust the medial-lateral fit of the shelf.
- Depth: switch to a medial view as needed, then adjust shelf depth (mm).
- For advanced refinements, open Advanced Properties:
- Corner Radius: adjust the radius at the shelf corners (proximal view can help).
- Shelf Angle: adjust how much the sides angle in/out.
- Adjust the curve between the control points and the limb:
- All Curve Height: adjust all control points at once.
- Individual Curve Options: adjust curve height per control point (e.g., to create a walnut shape to distribute pressure in the popliteal area).
- (Optional) Save the shelf as a template:
- In Templates, select Save as New to reuse the shelf shape and settings on other sockets.
